We are off to a great start and will continue testing until Thursday this week.
IOWA testing for third and fifth graders will begin on Friday! During testing it is especially important to get lots of rest and eat a healthy breakfast each morning so that our students are energized and can really show what they know! There are lots of busy learners in Mrs. Strahorn's classroom! We are practicing all the responsibilities of being in first grade and preparing students for a busy year of learning and fun. We are already working on sight words in reading and number sense in math.
In Mrs. Conklin's class our students are learning all about the rules and routines in second grade. We will be busy with lots of writing soon!
We are already working hard in 3rd grade in Mrs. Isaac's class. In math we are reviewing place value to prepare our students to learn all about rounding! This week we also had a great discussion during our first "Number Talks" lesson. Ask your student how often we talk about numbers in daily life!
In reading we are exploring the difference between literal and inferential questions (what we call in class, "thin" and "thick" questions). Students are asking wonderful and in-depth questions about the books we are reading. We are using reading skills to make predictions and share ideas about what could happen next! |
